Dakota Film Festival Returns to Bismarck for 11th Year

BY SCOTTIE KNOLLIN

The 11th Dakota Film Festival returns to Bismarck on Friday, March 31, for a one-night event. The festival bills itself as “dedicated to supporting the work of emerging and talented filmmakers and video artists by promoting local video/film production and by expanding awareness of professional careers within the industry.” The festival is administered by Dakota Media Access.

Those joining the festival on March 31 at the historic Belle Mehus Auditorium will be treated with a showcase of short films from filmmakers around the world, including “The Prairie Ghost,” a short film set and filmed in North Dakota, and the recently Oscar-nominated “Night Ride.” Exclusive featurettes of the festival include “A Documentary for My Mother,” a look at long-time North Dakota journalist Debby Kuehn, and “Middle America,” a story of three North Dakota towns vying for the title of “Geographical Center of North America.”

In addition to the festival’s official screening event, all official selections will also be screened back-to-back on Saturday, April 1, on the Dakota Media Access channel and website.
